PINK LADY is a theatrical time machine, a portal into the golden age of Jazz and booze and Paris circa 1928. We integrate the present-day audience into this vintage escapade by dazzling them with a stage show they would have seen at The Folies Bergere, at the same time surrounding them with the characters' behind the scenes shenanigans that take place throughout the venue. The Pink Lady Cafe set is arranged amidst the audience cafe tables making it easy for observers to slip into the colorful, sensual, dynamic world of these characters. As we follow the performers through the joys, failures and triumphs that make up the life of a performer, the plot reveals an impetus for each of the staged dances and the audience is included in each moment. The music and fashion of PINK LADY are modern re-imaginings of the sounds and looks of the Jazz Age. Think Billie Holiday and Josephine Baker meet night club re-mixes. Parisian Couture (specifically costume designer Erte) as seen through the lens of John Galiano on a trip to Vegas, helps set the tone. While the plot structure envelopes and surprises, the dances are nostalgic, traditional, dazzling, sensual and adult.
